Student Spends Week as Page in the House of Representatives

Fourteen-year-old Aaron McCullough traveled to Olympia to page in the House of Representatives Jan 31 through Feb 4. He was sponsored by 7th District State Rep. Joel Kretz. McCullough attends Curlew School and is in the 8th grade. He is the son of Steve and Lisa McCullough.

During the week, McCullough attended page school to learn about the legislative process. As part of his duties, McCullough distributed documents and notes to legislators and staff on the House floor, as well as around the Capitol campus.

“I am glad to see so many students come to Olympia each year to serve in the page program,” said Kretz, R-Wauconda. “It's a great way for them to get involved in the legislative process and see how their involvement can make a difference.”

Each year, students from around the state apply to participate in the legislative page program. Students spend a week attending page school, learning the inner working of state government and assisting legislators on the House floor.
