Rep. Joel Kretz talks with KXLY about wolves, wildlife, and the forest

Rep. Joel Kretz, R-Wauconda, talked with Rick Rydell at KXLY about issues affecting the 7th District and the state as a whole, including lawmakers' focus on endangered species as well as the problem local ranchers have with wolves.  Said Kretz, “You lose 300 sheep and nothing happens, you have a problem.”

Kretz also shared a story of taking a fellow lawmaker into a local wildlife reserve to demonstrate how to create a resilient forest, while explaining the removal of ladder fuels in order to reduce the risk of wildfire.  The Republican lawmaker said there are misunderstandings about what it means to generate forest health.  Education, he said, is key to understanding.
