Rep. Kretz speaks with KVI host John Carlson about his efforts to bring equity to conservation funding in Washington state
Rep. Joel Kretz, R-Wauconda, speaks with KVI’s John Carlson about a bill he sponsored in a previous session that was dubbed “The Spandex Tax” by some. The bill would have added a surcharge to higher-end outdoor items like kayaks and binoculars – anything over $200. Kretz says that hunters and fishermen already pay a surcharge, why not apply that to those who hike, kayak, ride mountain bikes, and rock climb? His goal is to bring equity into conservation funding.
